Vincent Guastamacchia

Retired NYPD, Hostage Negotiator

Vincent Guastamacchia

is a retired Detective and Hostage Negotiator with the New York City Police Department.

Promoted to Detective in 2002, Vincent worked as an undercover in the Narcotics Division. Trained to blend into any situation, he is able to stay close and carry out business without being noticed or prompting questions. This is crucial in situations where clients do not wish to be seen with security as well as when conducting surveillance.

During his career with the NYPD, Vincent was assigned to The Major Case Squad. In addition to solving high stakes, white-collar crimes, the unit was responsible for investigating all kidnappings throughout the city of New York. Vincent personally investigated 9 kidnappings with 100% recovery in just over 2 years.

Accepted to the Hostage Negotiation Team in 2007, Vincent was commended for successfully negotiating 27 high-risk situations. As a lead Hostage Negotiator, when he was requested to the scene of a hostage situation, attempted suicide, or barricaded perpetrator/emotionally disturbed person, it was his responsibility to begin dialogue with the individuals, develop a rapport and persuade them to consider alternative options instead of acting on their original intention.

While with the NYPD Vincent was assigned to protect Dignitaries, Heads of State, Foreign Ministers, his most notable was Pope Benedict XVI in 2007 during his visit to New York as part of a 3-man team specifically for Hostage Negotiations.
